Bio

Before the age of four, I was drawing. Drawing took the place of words because I stuttered as a kid. I had an appetite for drawing mechanical things. Crayons / pencils were my medium and means of enjoyment.

Later in the 6th grade, I had this particular interest of drawing people. I like drawing people's faces and that stuck with me for all my years. Even though I was shy due to my speech impediment, looking at people’s eyes amazed me. It was like I could see something in them that they could not. It was my secret. I made friends through my drawing if nothing else.

While attending college, figure drawing classes were my favorite. They were very challenging but rewarding. I got a BA in art from California State University at Northridge after which I entered the world of commercial art.

I spent the next 30 years as a production/graphic artist in the print industry. I had some success in illustration and the architecture industry as well. RR Donnelley, Allied Graphics and Mattel Toys were just a few companies that I worked for but during the early 2000’s this was the beginning of the of the end for the print industry. I returned to my love of portrait drawing which is a new beginning for me today.
